Life with JJ -- the first months (cont'd)

Sunday

He can laugh! It was so cute, he was smiling happily and continuously for like 3 minutes, and it was so nice, I laughed. "A he he he he" he said, still smiling. I looked at him in amazement, and laughed pointedly. He laughed again, from the back of his throat, obviously imitating me. We did this a couple of times, then I went for the phone, wanting to share this with someone. He stopped smiling, and decided he'd had enough of this game. Shame.

Last night I was feeling bored and frustrated and restless, so at 7pm I decided we were going to go to ASDA and see if we could buy some stencils and paint or something to occupy me. On the way there, I thought "well, if all else fails, I can always buy a bottle." Scary reaction, I avoided the liquor section like the plague when I got there. I did get some paint brushes and boat stencils: the kitchen door is now blue and yellow. Unfortunately, I used poster paints, as that was all they had. I'm really going to have to find better ways to occupy myself.

Last night we slept in the spare bedroom, due to an extremely large spider which was in my bed. I don't know where it's gone now, but I've decided we'll just stay in the spare room so I can paint the main bedroom. In the meantime, the spider can use it at his leisure. Sort of a lodger, I guess. Shame he doesn't pay rent.

I know it's pitiful, but I just couldn't deal with it last night. It really was a big spider, and it hid before I could steel up enough nerve to try and get rid of it. And we were planning on changing rooms for a bit anyway. Honest.
