Dagnor's Cauldron

Entering Dagnor's Cauldron
Tarrak finds a potential convert
Finally able to fish in peace again
Although he follows Brell, Tarrak is a fellow cleric and relatively stable and clear-headed for a dwarf. He is not a strong fisher but was interested in gaining tips and tricks and also offered us all the ale we could drink. Dwarves do have some redeeming features. We trekked to the barren rocks of Dagnor's Cauldron and made a pleasant enough camp on the shore and got out our fishing rods. Eclipsia was clearly the worse for wear, she immediately broke two fishing rods and began haranguing the local population. Then Tarrak began speaking of converting them! After a couple of ales (dwarves claim they can hold their drink but I'm not convinced) he stood and with fishing rod in hand began preaching the word of Brell. I was almost relieved when Eclipsia broke up his sermon by putting the poor creatures out of their misery.

Despite all the shouting the fish were plentiful (as was refuse, I suspect the dwarves of using this place as a tip, although Tarrak hotly denied it) and we ended up with a rather large collection of Cauldron Trout before much time had passed. I told Tarrak about the myth of the Stone Fish that the dwarf in Butcherblock had bent my ear with. It turned out that Tarrak already knew of the Stonefish and had in fact collected some to test their essence, but in a time of great famine whilst spreading the hopeless word of Brell he had ended up ripping the flesh from the bones and eating them. He says he suffered no ill effects but I don't think I will try it myself.

We sat there drinking until the sun went down and then, after comparing our catches (obviously I had the most trout, Tarrak had a fine collection of boots), headed our separate ways for a well deserved rest. It was a strange group: a dwarf, a dark elf and a halfling fishing together in the middle of nowhere, but it was a companionable evening. Tarrak will never be a great fisherman but his ale is definitely the finest Kaladim brew and I can't help but think that Eclipsia would be of great benefit in the more dangerous areas. If Bristlebane wills it, I wouldn't mind joining them again.
