The port of Butcherblock.
Any seasoned traveller knows this port well, as it is the connection from Faydwer to the mainland. I considered a boat trip but my deep sea fishing gear was in storage in Rivervale and it seemed simpler to travel via the Planes to Greater Faydark and walk from there to the mountains.
It was terrible weather: slashing rain and a bitter wind. No wonder the dwarves are so miserable. Anyway, it was clearly too damp to enjoy a stroll so I whistled for my mount Mizral and we raced directly to the docks.
At least the fish here are plentiful. Small boats here supply all the fish to Kaladim, Kelethin and Felwithe and toss their scraps into the waters attracting more fish, including the rare Stone Fish. I settled in at a dry spot under the docks and struck up a conversation with a dwarf named Balen who was similarly seeking shelter.
The dark clouds broke up within the hour and the weather turned warm. I remained in my sheltered spot, now grateful for the shade it gave me. I caught many fresh fish before finally I received a nibble from a Stone Fish and promptly reeled it in.
Meanwhile Balen told me that the fish were highly valued as they had properties used by dwarven clerics in some mystical item which allowed them to come home. It sounded very mumbo-jumbo-ish, just what you would expect from followers of Brell, but I decided to stay a whole longer and catch some more; I may be able to sell them in Kaladim. I must find some way of covering my bait costs!
Eventually, the sun began to sink and a chill filled the air. I had caught a few Stonefish but it was time to move on. Balen bid me a fond farewell, I think he gets a bit lonely sitting there on his own. I packed my rod and made my way back through to Greater Faydark, pleased with another successful day fishing.
