Ancient Ak'Anon.
When I was just a wee halfling roaming in Misty Thicket, I met a gnomish enchanter who has since become my closest companion. As a result, I have spent a fair amount of time in Ak'anon and even speak passable Gnomish (although he claims my accent is atrocious). I've not visited the in-laws for quite some time, so it seemed a good place to start my fishing journey.
Ak'anon an interesting town, hidden away in the Steamfont mountains. The locals are introspective and quiet, difficult for a halfling to get used to, but once you know them they become quite friendly. Their reliance on machinery is a bit odd but some of the devices are truly amazing. If you have never been, the Abbey of Deep Musing is well worth a visit.
So, Ak'Anon it was! I decided to treat myself to a hike through the mountains; it's a fairly quick journey overland and not at all dangerous. I arrived to an amiable welcome and quickly made my way inside.
I chose a spot outside the Palace and pulled out my Blessed Fishing Rod and a glass of ale. The spot was comfortable and I'd half hoped to see a royal gnome or two but no such luck, in fact the place seemed completely deserted.
Still, it was peaceful listening to the hum of the factories and the whirring of the clockwork. The gnomes are not the most outgoing of races and so I was left to it as I reeled my rod into the deep green water.
In no time at all I'd caught one: a Clockwork Koi found only in these waters. I couldn't resist staying a while longer in the quiet town but my work was done, now I was simply fishing for pleasure. Would all my excursions be this simple?
