Her innate love of food and fishing was influenced by a distinctly non-standard desire to see the world. One day it occurred to her to combine her loves into one simple mission: catch every rare fish in Norrath and attempt to cook it. The small folk of the Vale do not look kindly upon travellers. Adventurers coming into the town for a bit of respite are welcomed, but most halflings are at a loss as to why they would ever leave. The weather is good, the music is cheering, the local shops supply everything any civilised person could ever want: why waste time in foreign parts? Let the gnomes and elves find new lands, the practisers of the arcane arts attempt space travel, the halflings were quite happy sticking to their little corner of Antonica. And so, Taymar's antics quickly became the talk of the town. Most of the residents found her actions incomprehensible. The fishing was fine in the back of the town, if you don't mind the occasional piranha, and if you really wanted exotic muck to eat, well, there were plenty of odd things available for purchase in Misty Thicket. Taymar found that her tales from abroad were met with stony silence in the Weary Foot Rest Inn. She despaired of interesting her fellow hobbits about the rest of the world and instead began to write the stories of her journeys. However, it would seem that she was not the only halfling with a yen to see the world. Her journal, hidden under her bed, was borrowed by a dishonourable rogue and copies made which were distributed quietly around the village youths. Soon there was quite a trade based around illicit copies of her latest entries. It couldn't be long before her ramblings, like everything else, became available on the Web. |
